The working title was “LA72M”.

I was listening to the “72 Seasons” album from Metallica a lot so the inspiration and influences are pretty clear here.

The first draft was created on 27 April 2023.

These first few drafts were long as I had a lot of riffs written and there was no real structure, so it was pretty clear that some serious John Kalodner editing was required.

I had a song called “DNA” released with a band called RPM in 2005. It was broken up into two parts, “DNA: Recombinant” and “DNA: Anatomy”. The musical structure and vibe of this version was more Tool like Progressive Rock.

I always write alot of lyrics for a song, and in this case it was no different. I wrote the Chorus hook in 2005, but never presented it to the band as I wanted the Chorus hook to remain in the heavy rock song genre.

So the Chorus hook just sat there in my archives for 18 years until Metallica came along and gave me the inspiration and the kick in the ass to finish it.
