Revelation Unknown

You can hear it here.

The song that would become “Revelation Unknown” started with the working title “HTool,” a nod to the initial inspiration—a groove reminiscent of Tool.

On 17 May 2023, the first draft came to life, and I quickly began to develop the arrangement. What began as a “Tool”-like groove evolved into a Gothic Hard Rock piece, eventually incorporating a solo section that resonated with my 1980s Heavy Metal influences.

By 2 June 2023, the music and structure were finalized. Yet, it remained unfinished.

In September 2013, I had penned lyrics titled “Judged Before The Angels.” They explored themes of justice and moral authority:

Who made you the one to judge people like me
Who made you God today with the power to take my life away

Despite the potential, these lyrics and the title didn’t make it into the final version. They served as a starting point.

On 6 January 2024, while revisiting some old diaries, I found lyrics from a 2008 entry titled “I Never Knew What Could Hurt Me.” Lines like:

I never knew what could hurt me
I am black and blue from the debris

These became the first verse after a few rewrites.

Curious, I explored other July writings and found a song called “Same Verdict” in my 2013 diary. The lyrics read:

Lost in the echoes of revelation unknown
Walk the path alone, revelation unknown

With these words, the song finally had a title and a chorus.

Extensive rewrites followed in May, and by mid-June, the lyrics were complete. The song delves into themes of inner conflict, self-discovery, the struggle between truth and deception, resilience, and introspection.

Crank it up.

Here are the final lyrics:

I AM ALL
BLACK AND BLUE
FROM THE WAR
I’VE TATTOED
WHAT’S GONE THROUGH
A PREVIEW
THE SEQUEL
CONTINUES

SAME OLD DAY
WITH NƠ SAY
TO BELIEVE
IT’S MY WAY

WHƠ AM I
THROWING STONES
AS I STAND ALONE
AT MY
TOMBSTONE
BROKEN BONES
I NEVER COULD HAVE SHOWN
WHO I AM
STILL I ROAM
ALONG THE UNDERTONE
I WALK THE PATH
HOME
TO
REVELATION UNKNOWN

COULD I TELL
THE DIFFERENCE
LIES AND TRUTH
MY DEMONS
TRICKING ME
PUSHING ME
SHOVING ME
PUSHING ME

WHƠ AM I
THROWING STONES
AS I STAND ALONE
AT MY
TOMBSTONE
BROKEN BONES
I NEVER COULD HAVE SHOWN
WHO I AM
STILL I ROAM
ALONG THE UNDERTONE
I WALK THE PATH
HOME
TO
REVELATION UNKNOWN
