10 plus years ago. January 1, 2014. New Years Day.
I wrote the lyrics and music to the Chorus and recorded it on my Voice Memos.
I worked on the song again on June 7, 2014 by adding some verse riffs. None of the riffs survived.
I left it on the back burner until June 13, 2020. By September 22, 2020, I had the first full draft ready.
The studio recording started on July 25, 2021.
The Chorus hook is one of my favorites.
I walk away to live again / Change doesn’t seem to satisfy
There is a desire for renewal. And while seeking that new start to live again there is a struggle with change.
The past never dies easily / I still hope to see better days
Because the past lingers constantly in my life, but I’m still optimistic despite the challenges.
People think what they want / It’s a judgemental world
Im done with people’s unsolicited opinions and biases.
If I laugh, if I cry / Someone has something to say
Im at worst at night, when I scrutinize every word, thought and emotion.
Are there any people to count on?
Trust means everything to me.
All that’s left to say is to crank it up.
